Rates

  • Proofreading - £15/hr

    Line Editing - £28/hr

    Developmental - £32/hr

    Line + Developmental - £35/hr

These rates are rough estimates, and will vary depending on which stage of drafting your book is at. They are supplied simply to give indications of total likely costs, rather than as set rates (hourly rate is set, and will reflect final pricing). Furthermore, they are not direct ratios of hourly rates, as many more words can be done in an hour on a proofread than on a line edit, and so on. Instead, they reflect the speed of each type of work and the specialism required.

  • Average pricing, can vary based on work needed.

    Line Edit - £2/page

    Developmental - £2/page

Note: For poetry, developmental covers what can come out, where extra pieces are needed and theme suggestion for these pieces, ordering and titling advice.

  • As a working class creative myself, I am deeply invested in working class representation in the literary field. Both out of my own interest in reading and editing working class stories, and from my own experience of understanding how challenging it can be to fund creative projects as a working class creative, I endeavour to make myself available to and affordable for working class writers.

While I keep my rates below average for literary editors in the UK by working other jobs to sustain myself, I appreciate that this is still out of the realm of possibility for many. If this is you, please reach out to discuss how we can find a way to work together. I will not be insulted, or assume you think my work is not worth the rates, and simply acknowledge that personal creative endeavours are hard to fund for those without sufficient income.

No judgement here, only excitement to work with you.
